Amazing Sunset

On Monday Sept 19, I decided to take the gondola up and see what type of sunset it was going to be. I only took my small camera (which I had my big one), but these photos turn out good.

Wasatch Trail (Bear Creek to Bridal Veil)

Photos from my overnight backpack trip on Sept 10,11 2005. (yes, I know I am late posting this)

I essentially did a loop from the valley off my right around up and over the pass and down into Bridal Veil.

It was such great weather. Ok maybe a bit chilly at night/morning, but I camped at 13,000 feet so what would one expect. :)

Anyway, here you go....

All packed up ready to head out the door.

On my way out of town I crossed the San Miguel River.

Sign indicating that I was crossing ito the Bear Creek Preserve.

Signage of the Wasatch trail.

The big rock a little bit down from Bear Creek falls.

Always nice and cool by Bear Creek Waterfalls.

Berries with a view.

Bridge over gully.

Part of what was left of Nellie's Mine

A few Columbine flowers were still in bloom.

Split in the trail, I took the East Fork of Bear Creek.

Still snow left over from the winter.

Cascade on Bear Creek

Both forks of the trail join back up again.

Sheets of yellow in the high alpine meadow of Bear Creek Basin.

Moon is a rising over the pass.

Wasatch pass in the distance.

Wasatch Trail leading up to Gold Hill and top of 12 ski area.

Mr. Chip getting eating lots before winter sets in.

Indianpaintbrushes along side my water refill spot.

Bear Creek Basin. One can almost imagine glaciers flowing over the area.

Wasatch Mountain is the peak on the left.

My tent down on the pass.

A bit breezy and chilly waiting for the sun to set at 13,400 feet.

On the left is the Wilsons group of peaks.

Lookout Mountain

Ok, the sun has set, time to head back to base camp.

Moon, dusk and mountains.

Tent set up at ~13,000 feet. One of my highest camps. Good night, see you in the morning.

A little frost on the tent.

When you backpack by yourself, your shadow can keep you company.

Hovering rock. Ok, it just froze last night.

Lake in Bridal Veil Basin

Hmmm, a little nice and cold H20. So very refreshing.

I felt I was walking on a different planet. No one was around and the landscape was surreal.

Pond in Bridal Veil Basin

Looking down across the valley. I still have a long ways to go.

A water fall on Bridal Veil Creek.

Yet another picture of Bridal Veil Waterfall.

Back down in town where Bear Creek joins up San Miguel (previously Bridal Veil). I was at the pass between these two creeks.
