Tuesday's Rainbows

Telluride has the BEST rainbows. After a quick afternoon shower, there is almost always a rainbow. But I would have to say, I don't know if I have ever seen such a LOW rainbow.
Wow

Low Rainbow taken from my deck. Very, Very Bright
Also a very faint second rainbow.

What I love about this photo:
Rainbow crest is below trees
Tree is consuming Ingram Cascade
Trail and San Miguel have the same shape

Second (and higher) rainbow of the evening

Sunday Sunset

I was beat after my hike, but it looked like a beautiful sunset, so I exited at to the top of the 'g' and took a few photos.

Sneffels Highline Trail (My first attempt)

I heard so many great things about this hike, and was very excited about it. It is a +13 mile round trip starting from my house ~8740 feet to 12270 feet at the pass.

On Sunday, I headed out. The first section was very lush, green and peaceful.

However, I was not expecting the amount of snow (still) at the higher elevations. Lots of postholeing along the way. At the top of the pass into Mill Creek Basin, it was filled with snow. With a scary looking storm coming, and no ice axe, and not sure how solid the snow was, I turned around.

This was a good thing. On the way back, I found my cell phone and headlamp sitting in the trail. UGH. So, if I had done the loop, I would not have found them. Some good karma coming back to me.

Enjoy...

ps. I can't wait to revisit this diverse hike.

Lush vegetation at the beginning of the hike.

Balloon Rally Day 2

Well the conditions where just right, and the ballons drifted over T-Ride. Quite the sight. A few photos of the event.

Early morning at the Town Beaver pond

If you can read this backward reflection, "good job".

I can't tell if that is a dragonfly on the basket or what. Interesting none the less.

Quite the sight seeing the balloons drift over T-Ride

Balloon Above Me

When I was walking back to my place I noticed the balloon reflection in my bedroom window. It was a fun Balloon Rally. After processing some of these pictures, I would have done a couple of things different, but I guess that is why photography is engaging for me.

Balloon Glow

I hiked up Tomboy road to watch the Balloon Glow on Main Street. I wish I would have gotten higher, but here are a few photos.

Balloon Rally

Kodak must love Balloon Rallys. EVERYBODY was taking pictures (including me, but digital). I tried to go for some non-traditional shots.

The conditions where not favorable for flying, maybe tommorow.

Hike up to Tomboy Ruins

Yesterday a friend and I hiked up to Tomboy Ruins (or close to it). Lots and lots of history along the way.
