Landscape Arch: One of the Worlds longest stone spans, stretches 306 feet yet is only about 11 feet at its center.

I was excited about going on my ranger led hike into the Fiery Furnace the next day. Photo taken from across the Salt Valley.

Full Moon just entering into the North Window Arch

Watching the full moon rise thru the North Window Arch was very spectacular.

I turned around and took this picture of Turret Arch taken while photographing the moon rise thru North Window Arch

A few photos over lunch when I rode the Gondola to the top.

The snow line is very distinct.

Let it snow!!! Looking down into town from the top of the Chair 7.

Taken from the Gondola, the tops of these aspens are on fire.

October 9, 2005

The first big storm of the season. The first set of photos are from my place. Then I went to Mountain Village to drop off a friend.

From there I drove to Alta Lakes (first time), and it was amazing with all the new snow.

WOW.

The aspens for the most part are finished on the Ski Area, but some remain to give highlights to the new snow.

The seasons are a changing. My morning view from the deck.

Ajax looking very pretty with its new coat of white.

Winter wonderland seen in the Alta Lakes reflection.

With my mom's identification help, we think this bird is a male Pine Grosbeak. I saw what looked like the female near by.

October 5, 2005

A little late for aspen viewing, but it was fun anyway to go up on Silver Pick Basin for a quick look around. There was so many hawks in the area.

Wilson Peak and a line of aspen

Not sure where the head is, but it is cool to see the light thru the feathers

Hawk in flight. Check out those talons.

October 1 and 2, 2005

Saturday morning, a bit hung over, I decided to head out of Telluride toward Dunton Colorado. From there I was going to backpack up to Navajo Lake.

It was probably one of the prettiest days of the 2005.

The hike up to Navajo Lake was a casual hike thru meadows and aspen groves. Very pretty. Then a significant elevation gain toward the end.

On the way home, I decided to make a loop and take Kilpatrick trail. What an interesting route.

Overall, it was a great overnighter, with great aspen driving on both ends.

Navajo Trailhead: 4.8 miles to the lake. Hmmm. Doesn't seem too bad.

Hi my little Pika friend.

Alpine glow on Gladstone Peak

All sacked out, ready for bed.

An interesting story happened during the night. Around 10:30 pm. I heard something outside the tent. I had put my food up in the tree, but I did not clean out my pot from dinner. Something was licking the pot clean. So I grabbed the headlamp, and I open the tent expecting some type of rodent.

Instead it was some willy coyote, which ran off when I yelled at it.

Then around 2:30ish, I heard the racket again. Half a sleep, I just banged on the side of the tent and what ever ran off for good this time.
