If only I had a spare million dollars...

I have not blogged about the Valley Floor in a while. If only I had a spare million bucks, I would donate NOW.

Here is the latest from the newspaper.
http://www.telluridegateway.com/articles/2007/04/26/news/news01.txt

The following was taken from the Valley Floor Partners website.

A national treasure is in imminent danger of being lost forever!
The Telluride Valley Floor – 570 acres of majestic, undeveloped mountain ecosystem – is being threatened by plans for a luxury housing development. This important piece of land will be lost to humans and wildlife if it is not protected with a conservation easement immediately. Valley Floor Preservation Partners, a partnership of the Town of Telluride and other nonprofit supporters, have only two weeks to raise the remaining $2.3 million required to purchase and protect this land. Area residents, businesses and taxpayers have already committed $47.7 million to the project.

The Family Tree of Beer Styles

In keeping with the graphing theme (like the Cousins Post I posted several posts back), my good buddy Frank had this chart of the Beer Styles posted on his cubicle.

I ran across the original posting at http://www.hoppy.com/family/family.htm

Enjoy!

ps. Maybe it should be a goal to each of the different styles before the end of the summer. :)

Illusion of Dots

Taken from an email I received: Instead of sending out more email, I am just posting it here. :)

--------------------------------------------------------------

This is another example of an amazing illusion!!! The last sentence is so true.

If your eyes follow the movement of the rotating pink dot, the dots will remain only one color, pink.

However if you stare at the black "+" in the center,
the moving dot turns to green.

Now, concentrate on the black "+" in the center of the picture.
After a short period, all the pink dots will slowly disappear, and you will only see only a single green dot rotating.

It's amazing how our brain works. There really is no green dot, and the pink ones really don't disappear. This should be proof enough, we don't always see what we think we see

Vail and Aspen (after Telluride Closed)

A couple of weekends ago, Mary Dawn and I went to Vail and then Aspen. Mary Dawn had connections so we got to stay almost for free both places. (Thanks Kendra!)

I took a personal day on Thursday April 12, and skied Vail. The conditions were GREAT. It was a lot of fun ski my old stomping grounds. I was a liftie back in 1994.

On Sunday April 15, we skied closing day at Aspen. A couple shots from that day.

View from Aspen looking up the valley.

Closing day party at The Sky Hotel . We brought our suits, and took a dip while enjoying a apre ski beverage.

So who exactly is a Third Cousin Twice Removed

I was doing some research in some graphing "stuff" for work, when I ran across this interesting Wiki Article on Cousins.

Have you ever wonder what it really means to have a cousin once removed. I never really understood.

Hopefully this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cousin and the following picture can clear (or confuse) up the matter. :)

Closing Day At T-Ride

Some years closing day is a blue bird day, some years they are not. However, it is usually one crazy time, no matter what the weather is.

A bunch of crazy people on the last day, and last couple of hours at Goronos!!!

See you next year.

Denver Visit with the Boys

Mary Dawn, The Boys, and I went to Denver for family and business reasons. Mary Dawn is doing another Fido Friendly article. This time it was the posh Hotel Teatro. http://www.hotelteatro.com/

Hopefully she blog about it more, but here is a few teaser photos.

We went to go visit my grandma in Greeley. Here is MD with the boys on the farm.
