The Whipple Trail goes thru endless aspen groves. I had the whole trail to myself (except for the occasional wildlife). Very peaceful. I did not make up to the top of Whipple Mountain, because Octoberfest was later in the afternoon and I needed to get back.
After I got back to the trailhead, I headed further up Last Dollar Road. I have said this time and time again, that the Last Dollar Road has to be one of the most scenic roads in the world.
