We've got a store near you:

So I get a Crate&Barrel catalog in the mail today. On the back, by the postal address says:

"We've got a store near you: Cherry Creek North At Clayton Lane , Denver"

Not sure what their definition of near is? But I think 7 hours to drive to this store is NOT near. :)

Michael,

Close is a relative term. I got a catalogue from Ikea telling me that there was a "store near me." The nearest Ikea is in Tempe, AZ.

"Close to you" when used by an advertiser must mean "on this continent." I assume once man colonizes space, the meaning of this term will evolve to mean "Here, on Earth."

Some day we may be measuring "close to you" in light-years. Be glad that time travel is not possible... then stores could advertise their temporal as well as their spatial proximity!
